Thiruppumunai or ‘turning point’ caters to the Tamil people, a community with a fierce pride for their language. The programme has been on air since 2000.
The 30-minute magazine format show reaches out to the hurting world with the gospel of Christ bringing hope to an otherwise hopeless situation. Each episode handles day to day issues like suicide, marriage, sickness with various segments intertwined together to give the show a unique flavor.
The show has the following segments:
Makkal Kural: The segment offers the common man on the street a platform to share his thoughts and opinions on the issue of the day.
Nam Thiruppumunai: The trials, struggles people go through and subsequent victories people experienced by the grace and strength of God is being portrayed in this segment.
Anbu Karangal: This segment showcases the humanitarian activities of Operation Blessing India, the helping hand of CBN, which is making a difference in the lives of people all over the country.
The show closes with an Altar Call, prayer which is followed by a gospel music video from various Christian artists.
Thiruppumunai currently airs every Saturday at 7.00am on Vijay TV, a member of the STAR TV Network with a potential audience of 23 million viewers.
Pastor Kumar Pakrisamy has been the host of this programme ever since it was launched in 2000. He pastors the Apostolic Christian Assembly in Chennai.
